With over 25 years in television production and an impressive list of international awards and recognition, Björn Rudner combines his passion for camerawork with extensive experience in producing, directing and editing.

Björn is able to offer freelance camera and directing services, as well as providing full production services including consultation and budgeting, concept, scriptwriting, editing, narration, soundtrack, duplication, compression for web and uploading.

Passionate about travel, tourism and cultural documentary, Björn has travelled to 50 countries on five continents, and has been proud to direct and film for the WWF, National Geographic Today, the Thomas Cook Group and BA Holidays. His most recent project was the conception, production, direction and filming of the groundbreaking 13-part cultural series ‘Voices of Africa’ which had prime-time exposure on SABC 1 in mid-2007.

By the age of 25, Björn Rudner was already head of production and operations at Swaziland TV Broadcasting Corporation, and in the 20 years since, he has won 50 industry awards amongst which are the National TV Association’s Overall South Africa Winner; the US International Film and Video Festival’s Gold Camera Award, Silver Screen Award, as well as their Certificate of Creative Excellence; the ZSE and Nationale Pers Awards for top training videos in South Africa; and a special commendation at the Festival International du Maritime et Exploration in France.

As a sound engineer, Björn has worked for Visnews, Yorkshire TV, ESPN and on assignment for ABC News in Africa, Palestine and Iraq. As cameraman, he has been commissioned by ‘Top Billing’ in Africa, Europe and South America, and has filmed for the BBC, WTN, RAI3, Sweden’s STV and FTV. He has directed commercials for Fair Lady magazine, BP, and was recently filming in Mozambique for the UN World Food ‘Blood Diamond’ public service announcement featuring Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connelly.

Björn has diplomas in Business Management and a Merit Award in Journalism from DamelinBusiness School, as well as an Honours Diploma from the London School of Journalism and he holds an NQF qualification in cultural tourism. He is an ardent stills photographer, has an advanced PADI diving accreditation, a current First Aid Certificate and last, but not least, is a Shodan First Dan black belt in Kyokushin Karate.
